About 7 years ago, before I was very good at math, I spent a lot of money at Starbucks and other comparable coffee establishments. I would regularly purchase two or even three coffee beverages per day. Then, as my coffee habit filled up one, then two credit cards, I started to realize how much I was spending on this extraneous beverage.
What if i spent 5 dollars per day on coffee on average? That would add up to about $1,500.00 per year. That’s two months of apartment rent. That’s like a year’s worth of gas in 2002 (about a month’s worth in 2008).
Then again, if i spent $10 per day average (which is more realistic), it would add up to about $3,500 per year. Yikes. No wonder Starbucks stock used to be so red-hot… all because of me!
Now I brew most of my coffee at home so I have extra cash to pay off the credit cards I filled up buying Starbucks. (~:
