Arby’s seems to be one of the healthier fast food joints out there (it’s probably not, but I’d rather not know the details). So the wife and I stopped in to this joint in Mesa, on Alma School Road.
Upon entering I noticed that they have something called the Java Cooler, either Mocha or Vanilla flavor (for a limited time). It took me a minute to figure out that this was something far different from their Jamocha shake, which is not a coffee-based beverage at all. I’m thinking that Arby’s started this iced coffee line to combat McDonald’s Iced Coffee.
I asked the manager on staff what it’s made out of and she said it comes to them already brewed and mixed. So they don’t make it from powder like other places, cough, Starbucks, cough, might. She also said it was made from genuine Arabic coffee.
That sounded nice. So I went for the Mocha Java Cooler.
It tasted basically like chocolate flavoring and sugar mixed in with coffee. I appreciate the fact that it was not excessively sweet. The caffeine content seemed to be more on the light side however.
One for the road?
According to Arbys.com, they use T.J. Cinnamons for their regular coffee. I didn’t try the regular drip coffee this time. The Mocha Java Cooler would have to do for today (after all, it’s around for only a limited time).
I would like to know what kind of sweetener they use in the Mocha. Our Arby’s offers it on the regular menu. It’s a Seattle best coffee I think. It’s pretty good. Does anyone know if this is real sugar used or a substitute? I’ve searched for it’s ingredients list but cannot find one.
Thanks,
Alee
