Tempe Connections — Official Café of the Tempe Public Library

April 2nd, 2009 · No Comments · Arizona, Coffee With a Cause

Tempe Connections is Tempe Public Library’s very own café. It is a self-sustaining establishment that donates all proceeds to community-based programs.

My first impression of Tempe Connections was that Ron Paul would love this place. They don’t consume government funds though they are located within a state-funded library. In addition to making enough to pay its employees, this little café offers financial support to the immediate community by offering a useful service to studious passers by — coffee, smoothies and other espresso drinks.

A few of the programs Tempe Connections helps out:
Academic Connections, which offers college level courses in an informal atmosphere (not for college credit).
Veterans History Project
Experience Corps, which offers tutoring/mentoring for elementary students.

The room where classes are held:
I tried a double espresso, which featured a perfect coffee-to-crema ratio. The espresso flavor wasn’t harsh at all — to this day I can recall the balanced, roasty aftertaste.

Their bean supplier is Passport Coffee and Tea, located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
