Dutch Bros Coffee — Almond Joy Mocha

May 31st, 2009 · 8 Comments · Coffee

Today I stopped by Dutch Bros Coffee in Tempe (across from ASU) to try out an espresso-based beverage — a medium iced Almond Joy. This is a variation on their standard mocha, which is made with espresso and chocolate milk. I’m not sure if they use chocolate milk for their hot mochas as well, but for the iced version this combination worked surprisingly well. It also contained coconut flavor (Torani syrup) to culminate the Almond Joy and espresso experience.

Also tried a cherry almond Italian soda. This actually hit the spot more than the Almond Joy Mocha since it was lighter (not milk based) and it was about 107 degrees out today (not ideal milk-drinking weather).

Despite the heat, their shaded seating area was quite cool.

They both sound delicious. I want to try both of them, and you know I love Amound Joy.

This place sounds bomb. I wonder if there’s a location near San Diego. If not, they should put one there so that I can try it!

The first drink sounds cool yeah, espresso with chocolate, both are my poison.

Hi, I came across your site today byway of Dutch Bros. facebook page. I just had to add my 2 cents. The Almond Joy is my favorite drink, but I prefer the blended version better. It has the same flavoring but is more like a slushy w/ coffee. I have to have one everyday!

Everybody should definitely try Dutch Bros. :) My faves are an Iced Kicker, Iced Hazel Mocha, and White Chocolate Annihilator. They also have flavored red bulls, smoothies, and Italian sodas for those of you who don’t drink coffee…I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about Dutch.
