Moose Munch Coffee by Harry and David

May 25th, 2009 · 3 Comments · Coffee

Harry and David are a specialty gift company, a lot like the Swiss Colony, though Harry and David offers less cheese and meats, more fruit and candy-filled baskets/gift ensembles.

Moose Munch (awkward name, I know) is a toffee-glazed popcorn confection by Harry and David, also containing almonds and cashews. Inspired by their success with this tasty treat no doubt (you can get a free sample if you stop by their retail location in Chandler Mall, AZ) they decided to make a coffee with a similar flavor.

Flavored coffee carries the stigma (assumption) that it must be cheap, but the quality of this particular flavored coffee defies this assumption. The ground coffee has a roasted/caramelized aroma, then the brewed coffee brings out more of the nuttiness with minimal candy or confectionery notes. There is a unmistakeably rich flavor to this coffee, like it was made by somebody who knew what they were doing. Almost no acidity, medium roast.

Based on my experience with this unlikely coffee by Harry and David, I will be inclined to trust all their other coffee flavors and roasts as well.

Moose Munch flavored coffee was part of the coffee sampler pictured below (six kinds were included in the one box). Retail price: $15.95. By Harry and Davide.

I never really thought anybody would appreciate coffee as much as you do. As a former starbucks employee, I used to think I knew a thing or two about coffee. Hah…what a joke.

Keep up with the delicious photos of what you’re eating as well!
