Nice packaging. I always enjoy the Trader Joe’s hometown-marketplace feel.
Trader Joe’s has a variety of coffees, complete with a coffee roaster’s guide posted near that section. The wording printed on the Tarazu container sold it for me over the others: “Well balanced and silky smooth finish.”
Upon trying Trader Joe’s Tarazu blend, I indeed found the finish to be smoother than the impactful, initial smokey flavor. The roasted tone hits the whole mouth right away and then disappears quickly, like a magician’s smoke-induced illusion. A bit old-tasting, which I would attribute to the packaging, though for the price (six bucks and change), this coffee’s freshness is acceptable.
My grade for Trader Joe’s Tarazu after my first experience: C+ (by itself), B+ with milk and sugar.
Neat site! I’ll pass on your link to my coffee-loving friends.
I’d be one of those that picked up the coffee for the label alone
I love TJ’s coffee labels, too – and while the coffee is seldom spectacular, it’s ALWAYS at least good. Fact, this one is a regular favorite of mine.
