Anyone who knows me will confirm that I like poking fun at Walmart. I shop there so often that poking fun at Walmart is the same as poking fun at myself, so I’m allowed.
This means that I’m not embellishing when I say that Walmart’s French Roast is all around very high quality. It is a fair trade blend made from Arabica beans, pre-ground and yet still glistening with natural oils. This stands in contrast with the average, pre-ground coffee that becomes bone dry from sitting for weeks (months?) waiting to be taken home. I feel sorry for that forlorn retail coffee, that is, until I bring it home and it turns on me with its bitter, unpleasant flavor.
Walmart’s French Roast has just a touch of chocolate going down, leaving behind a satisfying, mildly roasty flavor on the palette. It is totally devoid of that old, sour taste I might expect from Folgers or Eight O’Clock Coffee.
Notice how the bag above is flattened and misshapen? That’s because by the time I got around to taking a picture I had already consumed almost all of it — that’s a good sign.
Cost: $6.00 for a standard 12 ounces.
I definitely don’t think Walmart and coffee, so I’m shocked.
This is a big surprise. I’ll have to try some next time I’m at the Big Blue Box (which, alas, is frequently…..) It is always a pleasant surprise when one finds high quality at a low price….
i like this! it makes me want to try tescos coffee now~
@maRs do they sell that at Walmart?
What is your most favorite type of coffee?
