Solar Powered Coffee/Tea Cup Warmer

November 1st, 2009 · 1 Comment · Coffee Accessories, Environmentalism

Courtesy of AMICO, you can now keep our cup of coffee or tea warm without having to use a microwave (or any other old-fashioned technology).

How it works:  The solar panel sits on top of your coffee mug.  You have to push down the little green (plastic) sprout coming out to power it on.  Electricity is stored in a lithium battery, which is built into the little gadget.

The solar powered warmer can boil a cup of liquid a few times in a the period of a day, and has an automatic shut off switch for when the liquid reaches boiling point.

I’m not too sure how comfortable I would be putting a battery right on top of something I’m going to drink, but it’s a clever idea in any case.

That’s pretty cool, I wouldn’t mind having one of those for my desk. I have two windows that get plenty of sun…and of course I have lots of coffee.
